VLRRPA HHF PROGRAMME

Livelihood pathways

Different starting points. Different pathways. One goal: sustainable livelihoods.

Five broad pathways translate assessment into tailored support. The pathway for each participant is determined through assessment and pathway matching — not assigned in advance.

PATHWAY 01 OF 05

Livelihood Recovery & Existing Enterprise

For participants whose existing businesses or livelihoods were disrupted by terrorism, displacement or related shocks, but who retain relevant skills, experience or a viable livelihood base.

Who it’s for · Participants for whom restoring an existing livelihood is more viable than starting a new one.

SUPPORT MAY INCLUDE

  • Business recovery assessment
  • Replacement of productive assets
  • Equipment or tools
  • Working inputs
  • Business management support
  • Market reconnection
  • Mentoring

PATHWAY PROGRESSION — FLEXIBLE TO EACH PARTICIPANT

  1. Assessment
  2. Capability development
  3. Livelihood activation
  4. Market & finance linkages
  5. Mentoring & follow-up

Areas are illustrative, not predetermined quotas. Support is graduated and needs-based — participants in the same pathway may receive different combinations, and pathways can be reviewed and adjusted where barriers or market changes arise.

THE OVERALL PATHWAY PRINCIPLE

Participants will not be selected for a training package first and then expected to find a livelihood. They will first be assessed, matched to a realistic opportunity, then supported to pursue and sustain it.

ILLUSTRATIVE LIVELIHOOD AREAS

  • Tailoring & fashion
  • Catering & confectionery
  • Hairdressing, barbering & cosmetology
  • Soap & detergent production
  • Selected handicrafts
  • Repair & technical trades
  • Small-scale processing
  • Trading & service businesses
  • Existing disrupted businesses
  • Employment-oriented technical skills

PATHWAYS IN PRACTICE

From support to a livelihood of her own.

Widows are a priority group for VLRRP. This Hajiya Hadiza Foundation programme in Bwari shows the kind of practical, livelihood-focused support the pathways build on.
